My undergraduate thesis on chord recognition and Markov chains

A thesis borne out of the belief that music is a language, in every sense of the word! I used chords as a fundamental unit of composition, and built a 1-degree Markov chain out of the chords from the Beatles&apos; catalog. Then, I took the entropy, to see if it would measure the notion of &quot;predictability&quot; or &quot;chaos&quot; as we might think of it in music. Completed in 2009 for my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Reed College.
