The TOSSR (Terrain Overseeing and Selectively Sorting Robot) is a device that picks up balls from the ground, differentiates them by colour and sorts them into appropriate compartments. The first step of the process is remotely steering the robot to an unorganized ball, powered by the Lego NXT module. Then it picks it up with its arm, which is lifted upwards by a Lego NXT motor. Then the ball falls into the sorting chamber with custom-fit dimensions to make sure that the mechanism doesn't lock. Later the colour sensor's luminometer projects onto the ball, processes the data regarding its colour. Simultaneously the clock escapement holds the ball and releases it once the 3D-printed compartment rotates to accommodate the ball to one of four colour-assigned compartments. What holds the structure together is a reinforced platform with four tracks to tackle heavy terrain. Dual NXT motors provide the necessary torque and power to keep the TOSSR moving.
