I was looking to buy an appliance that could crush an aluminum can so my recycling bin could hold much more. However, I found no such product existed. Thus, I set out to solve the problem of crushing a can fast, and not exceed 10 A of 120VAC power, and also bill of materials cheap enough to be sold for <$100 7 retail. after about 1.5 years of development i completed a prototype. it consists power supply, dc motor, drive shaft, crush platform, arduino board, h-bridge driver, and two optical limit switches. can is sec, materials <$50, </$100>
