Coming out of [GeekMomProjects]’s Remoticon 2021 talk, some ideas were thrown around to make a magnetic connector that also acts as a hinge, for use as a board to board connector.
The main concept is to try and make a connector that will magnetically connect to another connector, while making it possible to mount onto a PCB.
I have no idea if these will ever be made, but I would like to think that these can be manufactured out of stainless steel for the pins for corrosion resistance and some plastic for the housing.
Just threw some ideas down in CAD, will need to see what can be done to get it to function as intended.
I'm not entirely sure how to connect the pins to the board, but most likely can be soldered. Right now, more concerned with being able to manufacture the pins given their small size. Casting them would be ideal, but I don't have tools to do that just yet.
