Flyver

Create Drone Apps

Similar projects worth following
Flyver is creating open-source SDK and marketplace for drone apps.

Drones are just like old phones – with no brain. The limited hardware and the lack of a unified platform do not allow creativity and aggregating innovation on the market. Developers have to spend most of their time on basic drone functionality and thus they never have the ability to test their new ideas.

Flyver enables developers to write their own apps as easy as they would do it for a smartphone. We provide all necessary tools, framework and an SDK for that. It is all open source.

Well, it seems their beta website signup(www.flyver.com) does not seem to be an owned domain...ie it seems to be orphaned...any ideas or is it a scam?  Just wondering?

I think this is a great idea. I know one thing holding me back from building one is the fact that while I could take the time to do it, I could just as easily go buy one, since all I would be able to do is at most get mine to fly. But having a central location where functionality could be improved would be awesome.

Haha, it takes small steps to build something big. Also more and more functionality is available with a simple one line interface.

Not necessarily. The picture shows a quad, but there are also tricopters, hexacopters, octocopters, and various other permutations of the basic multirotor design. Not to mention fixed wing UAVs. 'Drone' can refer to any of these!
