Turning a broken mouse into a macro pad!

I bought a broken mouse so I could turn it into a 3x4 macro pad.

Similar projects worth following
I wanted a macro pad, but I didn't want to make it in the "conventional" sense using an Arduino. I stumbled upon a broken Logitech mouse with a macro pad on its side and figured it would be perfect for turning it into a "full sized" pad with keyboard key switches that can help with editing and cad stuff!

This conversion was accomplished by tearing apart the mouse to slim it down and get access to the 12 macro keys so that wires can be ran from them to the new keyboard switches.

Everything was then housed inside of a 3d printed enclosure with custom 3d printed keycaps that were quickly replaced with caps that allow for a label to be placed underneath.

This repurposed mouse will make editing videos and cad work a bit smoother!

I have a couple of these that  i have taken apart.  These have an ATmega 32u2 Chip, and 6 open via's that I think could be used with an FTDI board for programming.  I haven't tried yet.

Are you using the Logitech software, or something else?
