Arduino YouTube Play Button

To celebrate 1000 subs on my YouTube Channel, I designed a custom YouTube Play Button.

Arduino everything right? As a thank you to my first 1000 subscribers I created this YouTube Play Button with an embedded Atmel SAMD21 microcontroller.

  • 1 × ATSAMD21G18A Microcontroller
  • 1 × ESP8266 Wifi Connection
  • 1 × IS31FL3731 LED Matrix Controller
  • 146 × 0603 Red LEDs

  • The boards are fine!

I thought I had a board issue that didn't show up until a specific word was printed... See? Watch the horizontal line of the "H". (Obvious Plug!)

Turns out I flipped two of the LEDs, 35 and 51, so they turn on opposite of each other.

    Don't mind the solder mess.

any reason why you chose to use both an ESP8266 and an Atmega MCU ? pretty sure the ESP8266 could handle both tasks :)

Hey Sean, nice project! What are the dimensions of the board / will it fit on a 10x10cm2 board? - doesn't look like it, but had to ask. I have to remix this idea for this platform at one point ;)

Hey,

Its actually 148 x 104mm. Could be shrunken down, but the led Matrix would have to shrink, and thats a lot of work. Haha
