Goal of this project is to find optimal soil parameters for growing small plants like basil. Further investigation of chillis, bell peppers, tomatos etc. are planned.

The projects will start with a simple soul test and expanding in removing variables in the future.

    Var 1 is lacking behind.

Var 2 is only 2-3 seeds germinated. (Maybe compost unfinished ?)

Var 3 4 and 5 are doing good.

Var 6 is doing good but also very leggy seedlings (maybe differnet light conditions - windowsill)

Var 7 lacking behind (as Var1)

  • First leaves - Day 8 - 10.04.2022

    Red Tuka06/06/2022 at 21:21 0 comments

First leaves on the seedlings get established.

Also the first differences between the soils get apparend.

The soils where the seeds got deeper into moist depth get better germination. (Var 4 & Var 5)

The soilvariant 2 is not germinating.

Keeping watering constant to daily and as little to not get runoff.

The initial seeding of garden cress on 03. April 2022:

The soil samples where mixed in 7 variations from the following ingredients:

    1.  Municipal compost from a local treatment plan (thermophilic compost - short and hot composting)
    2. Garden compost from our household (mostly kitchen and garden scraps - 1year matured)
    3. Coco fibers
    4. sugar beet flakes (dried) - sourced locally - protein source
    5. MgSO4 - Bitter Salt
    6. Activated Charcoal
    7. Perlite pellets (local vulcanic stone - crushed

If ML is machine learning: I thought about that as well. The problem is the limited sample set and ability to test a sufficient number of parameters. Having variables like sun orientation and intensity changing from plant to plant in every experiment it's very hard.

For now I am "just" trying to a find stable experimentation setup.
