The first display from eBay came the other day and these are the winning pictures that got me a second one send to:

No boards here yet, so it doesn't hurt. Well it does hurt seeing those monstrous scratches. Two other displays with pcbs arrived as well, no scratches and with a protecting foil.

I wonder how many people just accept parts like this as a fact of ordering stuff from ebay?  You did the right thing getting new ones sent; if everyone did that, maybe we wouldn't see so many poor-quality parts shipped.

Oh they were apologising a lot for that! I always ask nicely what we could do about it and in this case they said they would refund or resend it. They're in fear of one star ratings most of the time, so I never had much trouble with sellers on eBay.

Those LCDs will probably come from a donor phone, so them being used before makes a lot of sense, let's hope the next one will be better looking!

I've found that you almost always get the new part shipped, with apologies.  I always test parts ASAP when they arrive, because it shortens the down time.

But if quality control costs them less than resending the bad 10%, you can hardly expect them to do it.  *Cough* Dell computer strategy of the mid-2000s.
