ive always wondered what it would take to do this and what it would look like. For someone who has never done this before themselves, would it be worth it to outsource this kind of project? or would it be affordable (under $500) to pull this off? Great work by the way! this really looks amazing and I totally want to do this for several of my keyboards.

Outsourcing is definitely the way to go if you just want to get it done, PCBWAY offers a CNC service; however I have never used it. You may be able to find a local shop that will do the work, but it will probably cost way more than $500 if you are doing one-off parts.   That said, if you have access to a mill (makerspace, school etc.) then making it yourself is very much possible and I think a lot of fun. For reference, I used a CNC converted manual mill, utilized $250 worth of aluminum and $150 worth of tooling. The machining took me  ~10 hours due to the use of multiple setups and me kind of just playing around with new methods. If you want to learn more about milling, I highly recommend the YouTube channel “this old tony” as the videos are both fun and informative. Additionally, I learned how to CAM in fusion 360 by doing some free tutorials on “https://titansofcnc.com/”  specifically the “TITAN BUILDING BLOCKS” lesson plan.
