Through the use of this system, we hope to double the efficiency of the SODIS and keep costs very low for adoption into developing countries. The system takes in water from any source, runs it through several filters, then places it into the disinfection chamber. At this point then a UV sensor takes a moving average of UV light over the course of time determined via experimental data to then let a user know when the water is safe to drink. I'm also going to be constructing an on board turbidity sensor for clarity readings. If the water is not as clear as it needs to be (I'm aiming for 10 NTU) for SODIS effectiveness, then the user pumps it back through the solid filters to clarify the water again.
