Two issues for me have been the composite video output of the real TMS chip, and the untidiness of having connections between modules, particularly between the sound and joystick.
I have been improving my own TMSEMU module so that it works in the MSX2014 but This new RC2014 module from Les Bird solves many of my issues.

I'm impressed with what he has packed onto this standard-sized module; video, sound and joystick ports.
The video is generated by an FPGA flashed with the F18A code. It's not a real TMS chip but I feel that's a worthwhile compromise in order to get a sharp picture with the convenience of HDMI.
The sound (and some i/o) is provided by a real AY chip. There's only room for pin headers and so these ribbon cables with the d-sub connectors are necessary.

The result is a much tidier computer with more free slots. I'm very happy with this.
