A project log for The Cardboard Computer - IO is my name

My goal is a 4-bit CPU using recycled cardboard substrate and Diode Transistor Logic. This is an educational platform for me.

This is currently where I am at with this build. Does not look like much but when wiring the way I am then time drags on :-)

Same confusing circuits but now with a new look. At least it will now fit through the room door when it is time to move :-)

Should make a maze out of it.  :)

That would really mess me up :-) I am winging this design as I go, no drawings to speak of.

LoL.... Bill Gates has nothing to fear from me :-). I have measured this beast here and now realize that it will not fit through the workshop door or window, so I will need to be able to disassemble the panels if I move. I had not planned on connectors between sections till now :-). I have had reel to reels before and liked using them. I even had a 1/2 inch b/w video reel to reel that had a bootleg copy of Star Wars and a poor copy at that. Take care and have a great day...

Hey Mark, this is almost starting to look like the CP-901 on the P-3 Orion II that I use to fly in, when I was in the Navy!

Its the display!

Well, It would never have fit into the ultralight I used to fly back in the 80's :-)

Hey Mark.

Good grief lol... I'd no idea it was that extensive, the tower is probably twice what I imagined from your photos before. Now I see what you mean by hard to move.

"Hand built processor? I'd love to see that!"

"Sure, I'll put the bits in a cardboard box and bring it over."

Good morning Jez,

And it will not do Windows or DOS LoL :-) A punched card or paper tape could be on the table. :-)

Heheh... Logically speaking you'd be hard pushed to make Bill Gates out of cardboard and paper fasteners... :-)

When I moved to where I am now I had to downsize heavily and one of the things I had to let go of was an ancient reel-to-reel tape recorder I repaired and was given for my troubles. I record digitally now, so I didnt think I'd ever find a use for it and it wound up on eBay. Such a shame because you're giving me ideas...
