WIFI streaming Cam with BPI-D1

This project has many other uses, the camera records video on a loop you can set from 3 min to 48 hrs on to an SDcard, you can also retrieve the video files via the WIFI secure connection.
I am working on installing a battery and a night vision module to use the camera in the dark. I will update this page as I make some more progress.

You will need the following items:
- BPI-D1 board
- AC/DC 5V 1A power adapter
- USB to micro USB cable
- BPI USB WIFI dongle 802.11n
- Windows PC/Laptop it may work with your Android device I have not tried it.

In this project I will show you how to build a live-stream network CAM using a BPI-D1 board

  • 1 × BPI-D1 Board Main CAMERA board
  • 1 × 5V 1A AC adapter with USB to Micro USB cable
  • 1 × 802.11N WIFI USB Dongle
  • 1 × Windows 10 Computer

    Step 1

    Step 1 - Download the burntool file "BPi-D1 OS and burn tool v3.0" from http://www.banana-pi.org/d1-download.html - Unzip it to your PC in a dir of your choice.

    Go to the just unzipped DIR and click on the file burntool.

    Click on the Burn Tool file and you should see this menu.

    Now we are going to connect the BPI-D1 board and burn the image to your micro SD card I recommend you use at least 16GB class 10 SD card.

    - Insert the card in your BPI-D1

    - Holding the Function Key button connect it to the computer via the USB/Micro USB cable once connected give a second or two and release the button

    You should now see the Devie0 highlighted yellow on your Burn Tool menu.

    Click the Green Start Button on the top left, now the image will burn to the SDcard in your BPI-D1 board. Once its finished close the Burn Tool menu.

Will it work with any usb dongle or the only specific?

I've bought  Mercusys MU6H which is more linux friendly and it doesn't work

Despite open source it is unclear for me from the docs.

From the seller it is does'r clear too

Hi and thanks for this page,

I am new to this board and am wondering tow things:

1) can't we burn the OS on the internal flash?

2) why using a WiFi dongle, while it seems there is an onborad WLAN chip?

Hello,

Is it possible to interface SDIO wifi device to this board? Seems like alt func of SPI2 is SDIO. So it should be possible to use sdio wifi.
