6502 + NEON PIXELS + CORE MEMORY
Sounds like fun, right?!
This combination of components existed in 1975 and could have been built at that time. Since I haven't found evidence of that fun combination, I decided to build it now. This project is the subject of a collaborative talk planned for Hackaday Europe 2025.
Project accelerator! https://www.tindie.com/products/pbretro/picorom/ The PicoRom [up to 256KB} made "re-flashing" the 6502 program UBER FAST. I highly recommend it for development on ROM-based systems.
The next phase of this project will be to bring the Core Memory and Neon Pixels alive with a KIM-1. Ultimately, I would love to run this system with the Monster6502!

Just in time for 2025 Hackaday Europe in Berlin!
Here is the video recording of our collaboration talk at Hackaday Europe 2025:
The next phase of the project is to build the big-banging required to drive the Serial Shift Registers. That should relatively straightforward since it's not much different than the code to drive the Neon Pixels.
