Artificial Tiberium Cluster

Who doesn't want to have a Tiberium Cluster at his/her Place? ;-)

This project is about to build something which looks like a Tiberium Crystal Cluster. The feeling Sensation is left out ;)

Tiberium is a dense "dynamic proton lattice" held together by exotic heavy particles. When Tiberium comes into contact with other matter, the heavy particles randomly collide with the nuclei of the target matter, smashing it to pieces (in the case of smaller nuclei) or incrementally knocking off protons or neutrons (in the case of heavier nuclei). Tiberium captures a fraction of the protons that are ejected during this collision process and incorporates them into its own structure, thus transmuting matter into more Tiberium. Whenever one of the heavy particles—a muon or tauon—collides with an atomic nucleus, fission occurs, which results in the production of alpha, beta, and gamma radiation as well as other forms of electromagnetic radiation (like infra-red). During the transmutation process, nuclei that Tiberium has come into contact with may be changed into nuclei with different (usually fewer) numbers of protons or neutrons.

What happens if you're exposed to Tiberium? Nothing good. If you come into direct contact with Tiberium, the green matter will start to fuse with your skin within about 20 seconds. You'll feel an intense burning sensation, similar to touching a hot pan or spilling acid on your skin. A full blown infection will manifest if you aren't treated immediately. Your flesh will begin to take on a glassy-greenish appearance as it begins to crystallize; eventually your internal organs will shut down as Tiberium extends rigid crystalline runners throughout your body. If you breathe in the crystal, then it will become embedded in your lungs. You'll lose the ability to process oxygen as your lung tissue crystallizes. Eventually you'll start coughing up blood and will hemorrhage to death.

Since real Tiberium is really dangerous, i settled with an artificial Tiberium cluster created form mountain crystal. Spoiler Alert: I really like the outcome. I will take some more time to complete the Built logs soon :-)

P.S.: Don't mistake Tiberium for Kryptonite! Kryptonite doesn't grow on planet earth... ;-)

  • 1 × Arduino compatible µC (Or whatever you like) I used my #1853 Atmega Hearth
  • 5 × Green LED I used some PLCC2 Green SMD LEDs, Maybe you wanna use other Colors.
  • 5 × Series Resistors For Green LEDs i calculated 100 Ohm (0805)
  • 2 × enameled copper wire I used about 1.5m, you could also use small cables.
  • 1 × mountain crystal cluster I got mine at a local store at a crystal museum

Epoxy/Resin might be something, a bit "pricey" for a project, but doable - 20-30 EUR a litre might not be pricey at all for you, depending on what you're willing to pay :) 

There are some on eBay that sell left overs of acrylic sheets, maybe a maker space "close" to you is able to laser cut something? That's where I got my sheets for #Ignore this ESP8266 board from ;) 

You could also buy a 3D printer. They're awesome :)

Yes it always depends on what man is willing to pay :-/

Is it possible to cut Acrylics in Angles? I would want at least 5 or 6 Edge corpse.

The 3D Printer is also still on my Wishlist ;-) but at the moment I'm still not willing to pay much for it.

It is possible to machine (cnc milling) acrylic sheets, but most laser cutting service will look weird if you ask them to change the angle of the laser ;) 

There are "cheap" printers out there that gets stuff printed. There's also the possibilty of a maker space that could help you out. Not sure about that.

Your stl file is a bit weird, I tried to fix it with meshlab, but wasn't able to. Seems to contaim multiple objects that aren't really joined to one peace.

update: try to look for someone with a Form1 or Form2 printer. There's clear resin that will probably look more than good enough for your project.

Shapeways are professional printers, hence their prices. Try looking on 3dhubs.com for something hopefully cheaper. I think their automatic quote system also does filled parts, so feel free to contact a hub near you about your requirements.

How about 3D printing with semi-translucent plastic? Maybe PETG? Ask for a "shell print only" of only a few walls thick, it should be strong enough and will make illuminating from the inside.

I don't know where you got your price quotes from, but I'm pretty sure they're way too high.

Thank you. Unfortunately I don't own a 3D Printer. I quoted at Shapeways for transparent material. But it was designed as solid part.
