A T1 line cost $500 a month + equipment (out of reasonable budget). If we can establish a radio network to centralize the monitoring and use a DSL from there to remotely control & monitor the security system the system would be successful. We are concerned that the local network traffic would be slow with that many cameras hogging bandwidth. May be nrf2401s could be networked together and get the range needed (up to 1/4 mile). Perhaps Esp8266s & WiFi extenders would work. We could spend $1000 on proof of concept and $7000 on total project.
