Our main solution will be to build a water filter. We will use the more commun objects and materials to build this up.

The WaFilTer is going to be composed of two main parts. Each of the two parts are going to be contain in a 5 liter bucket.

The first part is going to be for the different types of filters. Those following elements are the different filters: a carbon filter, fine sand, filter cartridges, pool filter (which will be between the two parts).

The second part is going to be for the UV lamp the LED.

After all we are going to press over the first part to force the water to flow down.

The clean water is going to drop from the bottom of the second bucket into a glass.

Then we will just have to drink it and taste it... :)

  • Tests Results

    WaFilTer05/12/2017 at 14:39 0 comments

We made several tests to confirm or discover the role of the components within the filter:

The main test is to see if we can have "drinkable" water from a very salty water. We used the sand, carbon filter and a basic filter like a coffee filter.

After many try, we reached to some conclusions witch are:

the sand is filtering the salty but it's not very effective but it has the advantage to clear the water

the carbon is filtering the salt more than the sand but the water taste a bit weird after being filtred

The coffee filter is only useful to contain the sand and the carbon from being in the water

To conclude to two filter are complimentary to filter the salt and clear the water but the result after only one filtering is not very effective but with multiples filtering we can feel at the taste and from visual that the filter is working (in a restricted manner)
