Durian, as a significant tropical cash crop, is beloved by consumers worldwide for its unique flavor. However, durian trees are highly demanding when it comes to their growing environment, with leaf temperature and humidity playing a critical role in their growth and fruit yield.

Durian trees have high water demands, requiring an annual rainfall of at least 2,000 mm.

To gain deeper insights into the growth conditions of durian trees, we introduced an Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR)-based solution for monitoring leaf moisture and temperature.

    Due to the remote location of the durian orchard, which is far from residential areas, the availability of WiFi signals is limited. Given the advantages of LoRaWAN, such as its long-range transmission, low power consumption, and robustness in challenging environments, we have opted for LoRaWAN as our communication solution. This choice ensures reliable connectivity for our orchard's operational needs without the constraints of traditional WiFi coverage.
