For years we used the FiPy module from the company PyCom to power our IoT devices. This tiny development board featured a ESP32 processor, a CAT-M1 modem that could support LTE-M and NB-IoT, and a LoRa Radio. Unfortunately the company suddenly went bankrupt, and the board is no longer available.
So when the Belgian company DPTechnics introduced a similar board that could serve as direct replacement I immediately backed their crowdfunding campaign.
It has taken some time, but finally last summer the board has become available through some major distributors, like Mouser. So it's time to get it started, and start replacing the FiPy unit.
