Update 23/3/25 -> We Have Z Stages
03/23/2025 at 16:28 • 0 commentsI've just finished uploading (to printables) and testing a Z stage adapter that works with the existing linear stage to turn it into a precision Z stage. I was originally working with a scissor lift based design but could never achieve the desired accuracy. I may one day release that design but its just too flimsy for my linking in its current state. As a part of this I've gone back into the Original Linear stage design and modified the adjuster so the top of the stage can move over the handle more easily. This design will also work with the upcoming motorized stage that I'll release along side a neat control PCB Shield for the Pi Pico to make using it easier for non-electronics people. There are also some neat 90 degree adapters for the stage mounting system included in this update also on my printables and in the easy stage collection I've linked below:

Update: 13/3/2025
03/13/2025 at 19:38 • 0 commentsUpdate: 13/3/2025
I'm currently putting the finishing touches to a motorized version of the linear stage using 28BYJ stepper motors and a ULN2003 driver. The control is handled by a Pi Pico because they're easy to re-program for non-technical people like those who I often ship these stages to. Once I've got the motorized version and a controller done I plan to work on either a Z stage or expand the project into more lab hardware like a syringe pump. If anyone has any ideas or wants to contribute to the project hit me up!
