After being away from embedded computing for 6 years one of my nephews 8 years old brought me his Christmas list for Legos last year. From the parts he wanted it is obvious he ready to move beyond the mechanical stage of building. I am open to suggestions

I am not at all happy with Mindstorms being light weight over priced and seriously limited. I decided to develop a program that started them on hardware they could use a long time. I am planning on using a Raspberry Pi 3s and possibly a few NodeMCUs & EMS8266s for commutation and for distributed devices.

Putting it together a piece at time is taking longer than I would like. I have gone down to many blind allies.

I plan for Python to be main language with C99 to fix the slow spots. I don't want them to just download code and use it. I hope one will download code and make it do what he wants it to do.
