In terminal mode, this machine runs CoolRetroTerm as the terminal emulator, providing simulated scanlines and green or amber text display. Just for fun I made a 16x9 wallpaper image for use with it, featuring dual TEAC 5.25" floppies and trim bezel for a bit of a fictional retrocomputer vibe:

A touchpad was included due to the need for a pointer device and my desire to keep it self-contained and not need to use a mouse. I had briefly considered using a small trackball instead, but was unable to find one I liked within the very small budget allowed for the project (the entire cabinet including both control panels cost less than $50 USD to build)

The USB breakout on the panel was a concession to allow for easy access for thumbdrives or whatever controllers might be used, without needing to open the rear panel of the machine to access the ports available there. The keyboard, touchpad module, and USB breakouts connect to a USB hub which stays resident in the control panel cavity of the cabinet.

The panel is easily interchangeable with the unit housing standard arcade controls in its arcade cabinet form, seen here
