The aim is to build an attractive PDA device to organize hobbies and provide an engaging offline experience. I will focus on the hardware development of a hinged case to hold an eink screen and USB keyboard.
I am a coding beginner and will try and build some applications for the device as a sideline, with the focus on a mostly offline experience. Application ideas include an .epub reader, a simple writer, an agenda (todo+calender), a terminal, a simple sketch program and a pomodoro timer.
Updated clamshell design, now multi-parted to make assembly easier. Now also able to 3d print with enough tolerance that sliding mechanism of keyboard works really well.
Closes nicely, snug fit of keyboard into shell, still open hinge at back that need to be covered and more design elements added to round out the shape. The screen is quite thick so need to optimize for height of unit.
View here of 3D printed components, once everything is validated I will switch to resin in high resolution, also to improve hinge durability.
