A bit of spoil, for the next mechanical upgrade. Butter (the robot) will receive new metal parts for its more sensitive components, such as the body and shoulders. The current plastic parts are under high stress (supporting the whole weight of the body + arms + head). And the faster I make him move, the more afraid I am that he'll break.
Those metal parts will also allow me to simplify a lot the other plastic parts and make them easy to print.
After some testing, I wasn't satisfied with the range of motion of the current shoulder (couldn't lift the arm high enough). So, I reworked the 3D design. Here's what the new version looks like.
I also embedded more bearings into the 3D-printed parts, to better support weight.
