It is a VESA mountable ESP32-S3 with a VGA output simply put. Additional interfaces are inputs for keyboard/buttons and an SD Card to store information. It is powered via the USB-C connector.

Next to the main PCB, a plate PCB was also designed to make sure that VESA arms are still compatible.

Idea behind the project

The primary goal is to develop a microcontroller with VGA output—a notable achievement—that mounts on the back of monitors as a VESA-compatible device for a streamlined, space-saving design.

Why VESA?

For practicality, it’s designed to mount on the back of monitors using a plate PCB compatible with VESA holders, ensuring a space-efficient setup.

  • VGA Output
  • VESA Mounted
  • SD Card

  • USB-C Powered

Firmware

Creating a ready-to-use firmware package is still in progress, but it wouldn't be possible without BitLuni!

He is the one who developed the ground breaking library, thus making the ESP32-S3 being able to output VGA.

The link is here for the library and BitLuni's YT channel.

  • 1 × ESP32-S3
  • 1 × VGA Connector
  • 1 × USB-C Connector
  • 1 × SD Card

Version 1.0 is ready and it is a very well working prototype.

It is a version that will be the base of next version, which will be more refined and more budget friendly.

    Ideas for v1.1:
    - adding flashing through USB

    - BOM optimization

    - different input pinout - prevent accidental swapping
