Key things I learned:
- Pearl dust is hazardous - use a respirator and spray water to keep dust down
- Hot glue works for holding irregular objections on a shaft. Heat the shaft with torch and apply glue.
- Make a quick spline adapter by machining Delrin a few thousandths under your male spline, and press into place

cool, I cant really see how you machined the inside of the brass to clip onto the part of the psu though. Did you drill a hole and then put a ring od delrin in. Ps whats delrin? Is it flexible somehow.
My challenge is that the stick part in my rotary encoder is like a half circle D shape and I cant make that shape inside a piece of brass/steel. How does one do that?
