I've designed a message audio encoding scheme that should be fairly resistant to typical channel distortions from messaging apps and phones, can be produced and detected with the components included in the kit, and is able to encode an encrypted message with the intended protocol in about 1 second of audio.
I've tested the scheme (save for synchronization specifics) with the actual target hardware from the kit, and it works as expected! Next step would be to test automatic synchronization, and only then try and check if the audio form resists being recorded and played back into the sensor.
