ShooSmoke - Smoke Detector in Public Area

Do you know that passive smoking is more harmful than the active?

Similar projects worth following
But in fact, no consistent rules for smoking found in public places such as parks and children playgrounds. So, how do we tackle the smoking problem and get a win-win solution for both sides? A free-smoking place for nonsmokers and a smoking area for the smokers?

ShooSmoke can be the solution!

ShooSmoke is basically created using a smoke sensor connected to a Raspberry Pi. We can put ShooSmoke in random public places. When it detect smokes, it will activate the sensor. The signal of smoking detected will be sent to the authorities and it will also tell the smokers the nearest smoking area.

Therefore, the smokers can smoke at the more appropriate place and the nonsmokers can will not be affected.

Wow, this project is cool. So many people smoke nowadays, and things like this may be a solution!

I don't need a smoke detector. I have an integrated one in my nose. My tongue tickles when someone smokes even 10m away.

Consider this... smoke is a known conductor. What about a high-voltage deterrent system? Detect - warn - ZAP ??

I attempted to do something similar for the prize last year. It kind of fell flat for me. I hope that all goes well for you! I wait to see how things turn out.

That's an extraordinary claim, so I'll need to see some extraordinary evidence for it before it sounds believable (i.e. peer-reviewed scientific studies, not propaganda from anti-smoking groups).  I can't imagine how breathing smoke at such a drastically reduced concentration could possibly be worse than inhaling it directly.

Yeah, I saw ads on telly telling people that passive smoker is more harmful

Я подумал, что это логично, поскольку в каждой сигарете есть фильтр, а не пассивный

Legrange wrote 04/10/2017 at 19:31 point

It is indeed a massive claim. And very likely a false one.

An active smoker inhales all the fresh smoke and some of the exhaled and burn smoke, so even if passive smoking was more harmful than active smoking, somehow, they're not only getting the passive smoke but also the active smoke.
