Puckboard

A puck-shaped mechanical numpad/macropad.

A keyboard that's shaped like a puck with 25 keys. Pretty much it.

A post was made on the /r/mechanicalkeyboards subreddit about an april fools day keyboard that was effectively a 25-key puck shaped keyboard. I decided to design one and try to make it just for fun.

Going to 3D print the plate and case, hand wire it and use a Teensy as the controller.

I've gotten around to printing the case and plate and here's the first prototype!

I have yet to actually add electronics and test if everything will fit.

There's also one slight problem, I had to make the plate 2mm thick since 1mm was much too flimsy, but the key switches don't clip in well to the 2mm thick plate. I'll be reprinting a slight redesign that has insets on the back for the keys to snap into, but is thicker elsewhere to add support.

So right now I've designed the case and plate in Solidworks and will be 3D printing them. I'm not sure exactly how well everything will fit, so the first print will basically be checking to make sure everything does fit in the way I intend.
