Drone based EOD

A UAV wich is able to find explosive devices and mark or even destroy them

Similar projects worth following
This is an UAV which can operate autonomously or being radio-controlled. The UAV will detect explosive devices by scanning the ground for metal and eventually mark them. It should also be able to transport or destroy the device.

In cause of the intuitive operation it can be used in war zones by trained professionals as well as in mined zones in underdeveloped countries to save the lifes of thousands of uninvolved civilians every year. It is this projects intention to make our world a saver place:)

  • Transport

At the moment I really don't know how to transport the explosives safely, but I think I will have to construct a soft gripper to not accidentally making it explode while transporting it.

I will defenitly have to find out more about the way the most frequently used explosive devices are built and how they work if I don't want them to destroy the drone or, even worse kill someone.

  • Marking

The  markings should be obvious but they shouldn't cause the explosives to explode, I think spray paint would be fine to start with.

Nonetheless I also want the drone to mark the found explosives digitally, it should create a (of course freely available) online map by using GPS data and Wifi of them to warn the world.

Eventually an app could warn users nearby.

Maybe I'm going to realize this via ZigBee, however I've never worked with wireless transmission systems, although I'm pretty sure it should be easy to use, easy to replace/repair and not too expensive.

    Seems like this one:

works well, so I will try to build a similar version.

I also think that postioning the metal detectors coil parallel to the ground should be done by a gimbal, but I will have to work it out more exactly..
