Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB VRAM, factory overclocked)
Akitio Thunder 2 (PCIe v2.0, x16, x4 lane)
Corsair CS450M PSU; 450W (paperclip trick applied) - plugged into GPU
Edac PSU; 12V, 7.5A - plugged into Akitio
Thunderbolt 2 cable - plugged into computer ;-)
Used with MacBook Pro (mid 2014, i7 2.5 GHz /4 cores /8 threads) under Windows 8.1 Bootcamp.
Result; around 10x, or 1000% better graphics performance, over Thunderbolt v2, compared to internal/dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 750M (2 GB VRAM), when using external screen.
Can (most probably) be used also under macOS with older cards (not only Windows Bootcamp), and/or the newest cards, using the newest drivers. Ordered on 4:th Aug 2016, build successfully finished on 22
