Yoke Rewind

A project log for BUILD an ARCADE XY VECTOR MONITOR

I set out to build a working 13"-27" CRT Arcade XY Vector Monitor. UPDATE!!! 5" and 9" monitors too.

This is the 9" color TV with the chassis removed.

Yoke Removed. I used the heat gun to loosen up the glue on it.

Yoke disassembly.

#24 wire ready for its new home.

92 Turns each side.

The yoke put back together. I used hot glue to hold the parts like the old glue did.

Are there supposed to be images in this log entry? I don't see any.

Hackaday long since dropped them for some reason. You can check out our facebook group. "Vectrex, XY monitors the technical side".

*Why* did the yoke need to be rewound?

Not enough current can build up to move the beam with the original windings. In other words the yoke used in a TV has too many windings on the vertical side because it is wound to run at a slow frequency.
