I've always wanted to be secure in the knowledge that both my software and hardware won't be used against me by a hacker or other malicious attackers.
I find that I can protect my system to some extent with software including OSes designed for security or VPNs when searching the web. When the vulnerabilities are within the hardware running the software however, either accidentally or on purpose, I'd like to be able to pick what my equipment uses and be able to swap it out at my own whim.
This project will look at the necessary items and skills needed to create a laptop that is highly modular, it may link to others projects who have done some of this research and I hope to make it easier for future me and any viewers to complete their own DIY laptop projects.
MNT Reform - http://mntmn.com/reform/ - A fully created laptop where the creator has a similar idea, the most important project of this whole list for me as it could be incredibly useful knowledge.
Slabtop - http://www.binari.tech/ - An amazing concept where full computer hardware is put into a laptop, perfect for modular design and I'm definitely interested to see where they go with it and problems they faced.
FSociety Keyboard - https://hackaday.io/project/13210-the-fsociety-keyboard - I like the idea of being able to attach several items that can improve functionality to the keyboard or surrounding case, not sure if I want smooth looks or a more cyberpunk design.
GPD Game pads - http://www.gpd.hk/ - A company that designs relatively cheap game pads, they use android software so there is a possibility of hacking it for my own function.
