Description

Fairly simple portable weather station with temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and UV radiation levels. LCD display to cycle between instruments. Audible alerts for predicting incoming storms, UV exposure limits, temperature warnings, and so on. Small form factor for portability. Could be useful when camping/hiking, at the beach, skiing, around town, traveling internationally, or as a dedicated sensor array on another project such as a balloon or UAV. I'd like to add data logging and GPS as long as I can make it all fit in the small form factor. I'm planning on an Altoids tin as per the specifications and then making a custom enclosure. 1 × Hackaday.io Trinket Pro An ATmega328 that's easy to connect to a battery or power from USB.
1 × SparkFun Humidity and Temperature Sensor Breakout - HIH6130 The Honeywell HumidIcon Digital Humidity/Temperature Sensor HIH6130 is a digital output-type relative humidity (RH) and temperature sensor combined in the same package. This allows the RH measurement to be temperature compensated and provides a second, standalone temperature sensor output.
1 × SparkFun Altitude/Pressure Sensor Breakout - MPL3115A2 The MPL3115A2 is a MEMS pressure sensor that provides Altitude data to within 30cm (with oversampling enabled). The sensor outputs are digitized by a high resolution 24-bit ADC and transmitted over I2C, meaning it’s easy to interface with most controllers. Pressure output can be resolved with output in fractions of a Pascal, and Altitude can be resolved in fractions of a meter.
1 × SparkFun UV Sensor Breakout - ML8511 This sensor detects 280-390nm light most effectively. This is categorized as part of the UVB (burning rays) spectrum and most of the UVA (tanning rays) spectrum. It outputs a analog voltage that is linearly related to the measured UV intensity (mW/cm2).
1 × SparkFun OpenLog Power up this device and it will start logging any received serial data at 9600bps.

Well I finally received all of my components after a shipping delay. I started setting everything up and now need to dig into the software more and setup the automatic switch and data logger.
