The plastic part on the bottom of this garbage can acts as a hinge for the push rod connected to the foot pedal. The original part had a design flaw because the part under the hinge did not touch the ground, causing it to bend when used and eventually break. So I designed a replacement part to fix the hinge and avoid the design flaw.

The garbage can has a rounded lip on the end. The part is attached to the can by slots that go over the lip, and then small pieces slide into the side of the slots and clamp the part to the lip. The pieces are then glued into place.

To save plastic, instead of making the part the full size of the garbage can, I added small feet to go around the edge.
