adding pictures to project logs doesn't work. I tried many images and there seems to be an image with CDN storing images. My images are small (100K) and png. so they should work.
They are working but I have seen some delay from when an image is selected and saved to when it is available on cdn. I'll reach out to operations and see what they can do.
Could the system please be fixed so project titles can include apostrophe and be shown correctly and not like ' ? It looks stupid.
I was looking at one of my projects today and noticed two usernames that I don't recognize were added to my 'Team' list for my project page. So there were 3 members of my team, myself and these two others. I took a screen shot, and then deleted them. Was my Hackaday account hacked? Who do I report this to in order that someone at Hackaday is aware.
The log page https://hackaday.io/project/7431-the-kicad-central/log/24103-kicad-links contains a link to kicad-pcb dot org which is not an official domain, owned by a non-KiCad entity, and could conceiveably host malware. It should be changed to the official site: https://www.kicad.org
OK, found the "Report as inappropriate" link. Grey on black.
HaD should enable support for uploading and storing AVIF image files. It's an open standard and all the leading browsers support it. It compresses even better than JPG. I tried it on the JPG image on my page: https://hackaday.io/page/9255-embedders-handbook and got 23% reduction (196712 -> 152183). I got a similar reduction (843007 ->667240) on a real world photo.

Content server better these days but will sometimes fail to serve an image leaving a blank space. Often comes good when the page is refreshed.
Also in one instance the image was lost and I had to upload again.
The content server (for the images) is still unreliable. Often it will fail to display some images on a log or details page. Refreshing the pages sometimes works, other times not. The image is still on the server as going directly to the URL works, again sometimes. Maybe some limit or throttling of image serving is reached.
I see I'm not the first one to report this, but somehow all Hackaday notifications end up in my Gmail Spam box, with a warning that the included link is unsafe. Despite me continuously confirming that it is 'No Spam', it still keeps happening.
The image galleries are starting to fail again.. why is this happening every 2 weeks. It's super annoying.
Please check the following projects - some images are missing again:
https://hackaday.io/project/177784-lambdaspeak-futuresoft-edition
https://hackaday.io/project/172154-loudspeaker-your-microkorg
It may be time to move on to another platform.... I am loosing trust. One day, all my pictures will be gone?
It's annoying, but it's a visual issue only and not a source file issue.
1. Just a question when trying to join a project, clicking "Yes" results in no feedback
2. Diving into the problem there seems to be a rights issue with the page.
If you need anymore information please let me knowm
Can this be due to the fact that the one trying to join a team does not have the creator status ?
Currently you need creator status, but there is an upcoming patch that will remove that requirement to join an existing project.
Picture upload is broken again. ☹️ First attempt returned access denied. Second attempt succeeded in uploading but the editor showed a broken image icon. Looking at the HTML, a filename had been assigned to the uploaded picture.
I just learned about Twitter and Open Graph meta tags to steer social media summarizing of linked pages.
For project log pages, please use the first image from the log -- or at least something that appears on the target page -- for the og:image and twitter:image meta tags instead of the lead image from the project page.
Because I sometimes link to relevant log entries from Discord and it doesn't help to fill the chat with copies of the same irrelevant image.
ETA: or is this something I can control?
Can you guys please fix the gallery? All my projects are broken by now - the pictures are not showing up. Thanks for looking into this! Even my avatar logo is broken.
I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with image uploads. Whenever I try to add images to my projects they're not displaying correctly. Instead, I'm seeing black boxes or broken link icons.
I've tried a few things to fix it on my end:
- Cleared cache and cookies, tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.).
- Resized images, tried different file types (.jpg, .png).
Nothing works!
yeah, half of my pictures in the galleries are not showing currently - "no server available for request"
Uploading images seems to be broken at the moment. I either get "unknown error" or the corrupted image icon.
I tried out different images, but always got the same result.
Same here. The image uploads, but doesn't display. Seems that the image server is down.
Is it possible to develop a feature that puts an indication of the project status on the project badges (thumbnails), a little icon perhaps? I have shelved and scrapped projects that I would not wish people to waste time following. And completed projects deserve a completion icon.
To be honest I would prefer this over showing likes and follows, its more useful.
