This Strandbeest was made using G10 and Delrin cut on my homemade CNC router. The motors are Pololu 20D 73:1 motors and they are powered by a pair of their simple motor controllers. The leg joints use nylon shoulder washers to help reduce friction and wear. I have a ton of aluminum standoffs so those always tend to make it into my designs. The Strandbeest runs off of 2 cell lithium batteries. The bevel gears are from servocity.
I always regret not taking more photos during the build process. I'm sorry if there is something you wanted to see that I didn't get.

Here are a couple videos:
This is with the current 73:1 20D motors:
This is with the old 29:1 20D motors (way too fast, not enough torque):
I know some people don't like thingiverse but it is easier than signing up and figuring out GitHub. Here you go http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:719812. If you need more pictures for assembly or what parts I used let me know.
I'd be happy to release the DXFs so you can make your own. I'll also try to get some more detailed photos and a basic BOM to help with assembly. I'll post it when it's ready.
Perfect! I love the gait with the 73:1 20D motors! Do you have any of the patterns? I'd love to cut one out on my shapoko 2 (as soon as I finish building it!)
I love how those walkers have smooth leg movements, very much different from how we tend to program the servos. No sudden movements, slowly accelerating and decelerating along their path...
