Using VIPER is very easy!

You just need to download a single package from our website, and unpack it on your computer or on a USB stick. VIPER is ZERO-install!

VIPER is a complete solution: It also includes an embedded, portable Python 3.0 engine in order to make your life easier!

Launch the VIPER IDE and develop your project, or test one of the examples we made for you. Just connect to the VIPER App to control everything on your board!

For a moment I thought you got Python to run on AVR, then I realized how ridiculous that was, and saw that it's just normal Cpython running on normal Linux. Revolutionary.

Hello Radomir,

actually there is no Linux and no CPython in VIPER. We wrote a 60kb Python interpreter that is able to run almost on any 32-bit ARM microcontroller. Moreover, VIPER sits on top of a RTOS (ChibiOS) that provides a multithreading environment. Just as an example, VIPER runs on the Spark Core (128k of flash and 20k of RAM)... there is no way of stuffing the normal CPython on it :)

Is that somehow related to Micropython? How feature-complete is that interpreter? Is the code available?

VIPER has a different approach with respect to Micropython: for example the compiler does not run on the microcontroller, it is executed on the PC and the bytecode is uploaded to the VM. Regarding the features, VIPER implements a large subset of Python 3.4 syntax, with some modifications to fit on a microcontroller. VIPER is also open source and the code will be available on github at the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
