Other Bands.
03/27/2015 at 12:41 • 0 commentsI received several messages on other band support. The ADF7021 will support other bands and it requires changing values on filter, loop , and vco tank which is all pretty trivial. In short is possible, even likely that it would be easy to move the band range around anywhere the ADF7021 operates.

Part arrival. More ADF7021 Driver work.
03/26/2015 at 21:28 • 0 commentsI received the first shipment of parts. Everything seems to fit on the mockup, still waiting for boards. I was concerned on the Laird RF shielding frame as they didn't really seem to have a footprint/datasheet spec for layout but it appears to fit nicely. Another builder received samples for the custom TCXO and there may be a pin change to OSC2 after further inspection of the datasheet. The diagram in the ADF7021 for clocking indicated OSC1 but at CMOS levels it would seem that needs to be on OSC2. Simple fix hopefully. Some more work is done on the ADF7021 driver and the basic config of the IC should be close. There are some calibration routines that will need to be completed.

Board Size and Connectors
03/25/2015 at 22:06 • 0 commentsBoard dimensions are 2.01x3.87 inches currently. The PA and heatsink will be at the end of the board. I'm using a mill to shape the heatsink from aluminum and meet both the PA mounting holes and board mount holes. Power requirements are at battery levels (7.2V optimum input). Connectors are included for a GPS module, OLED display ,USB Device and a Wireless Module. I've also placed extra GPIO, and CAN on connectors for future use.

Parts arrive tommorrow, stencils next week and then boards.
03/25/2015 at 19:37 • 0 commentsI've been working on base code for the STM32F4 to come up in a OK state for the components while I wait on boards. Everything is on order and stuff should start arriving tomorrow. The RX state is the default and I've also got the basics down for sending a serial stream of data between radios and a quick TDMA test with a set master node. Ideally I'd like to be able to do a half duplex voice channel via TDMA slots on the same frequency. There are a lot of applications but thats step number #1 to get TDMA voice working.
