My idea is to have a system that would monitor conditions outside and use those conditions to cool (or possibly heat) a house. The idea of using passive means of temperature control in a house is nothing new. Having a wall of windows to heat a house or opening windows to cool a house are two examples. But I haven't seen a system yet which automates this in the way that air conditioning units are automated. I'm going to start by tying in a programmable thermostat to an attic fan we have. Since the warmest air accumulates at the ceiling, this will draw that warm air away from the living areas with automatic control.

The ultimate idea is to have a system of fans potentially tied in to the AC system (or at the windows) that would move air from the outside to the inside and vice versa without running through the energy expensive refrigeration cycle when conditions permit.
