Details, details ,details..... It's alive. (The electronics/coding is actually the easy part...) The real challenge is those semi-translucent tubes... Found some cheap transparent tubes at Home Depot used for storing flourescent light-bulbs. 1 1/2 " diameter, works perfectly with standard PVC Pipes. 

Coating them with latex paint on the inside in an evenly fashion is a different story. Normal latex paint is way too thick. Thinning it up with ethanol helps. ​But then bubbles form. And streaks while the stuff is drying. The best results so far are from really thinnned down paint poured in the tube, then emptied and spinninng the to get rid of exessive paint. Repeat multiple times without rinsing. Not perfect but reasonable.
