Cyberpaul

A Les Paul style guitar with a dystopian cyberpunk aesthetic.

Similar projects worth following
Decided to refinish an old guitar of mine, and somehow it turned into a futuristic cyberpunk oddity.
It's a perfectly functional guitar, refretted, restored and set up, which just happens to have a working fan with backlight.

Uses a passive pickup system but with a few twists. Toggle switches select the bridge or neck pickup and add one of two (or none) capacitors in parallel to change the resonant frequency. Also decided on a simple mute switch in lieu of a volume control.

The external battery powers the fan and light, controlled by the red push buttons.

I've also rounded the back after removing the initial finish (nitro burns nicely), with a dremel, sandpaper and tons of elbow grease.

Very nice project, I love the saddles! What pickup are you using on the neck? It looks a little too fat to be anything I recognize and is it using a set-neck construction?

Yup, set neck, which is rare for this kind of Soviet knockoff. The single-coil comes from another guitar of that era, and being the overwound single magnet type offers some hints of P-90.

Wow, that really turned out great! The up-close shots are stunning... the audience won't know what they're missing from afar. Thanks for showing off your work!

This is an awesome guitar. Does it have a connection to any sci-fi universe, or is it just a cool style?

Didn't have a particular Universe in mind, just tried to fit together what I had on hand in a general decayed sci-fi theme. Inspired by the films I grew up with.

That thing looks awesome. My audio stopped working suddenly, so I'll just assume it also sounds awesome.

Thanks! I'm gonna try to take some more pictures as soon as I find a proper entourage.
