Description

This tube boost/overdrive pedal is largely based on the Matsumin Tube Caster. This one features gain, tone, and volume control as well as a bypass switch. The 12au7 vacuum tube will only be running at 9 volts. This should produce a nice vintage tube sound with a little crunch to my electric guitar.

Components

  • 1 × 220k Ohm Resistor
  • 1 × 1M Ohm Resistor
  • 1 × 470k Ohm Resistor
  • 1 × 100k Ohm Resistor
  • 1 × Linear 50k Ohm Pot (gain)

Nice looking pedal, but I'd be very worried about breaking that tube with my foot...

It has a cover that goes over the tube to prevent that from happening. It looks cooler without it though. :)

This is a cool project if your're valve-curious but afraid of high voltage (as well you should be). Those interested can find a 170-page-long thread about this circuit and derivations on DIYSB: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=63479.0

I read a lot of this thread it is quite excellent and I also recommend it to anyone interested in learning about this circuit!
