This is a PCB that will accept superflux, PLCC-2 or standard LEDs. Even 10mm ones if you adjust them a little with side cutters... It's a work in progress, ignore the v1.0 on the board, the pads are too small and the silk screen needs a bit of an adjustment. Check out the files (KiCad) via github below and let me know what you think.

This board doesn't use RGB LEDs for that reason. Just standard leds in red green and blue.

I can't imagine how expensive all of these RGB leds can be. I have problems sourcing them for cheap.

I find eBay is nice for stuff like that, as long as you don't mind waiting a month for the stuff to arrive.

For instance, RGB LEDS:

Can't speak to the quality of these particular ones, but I have bought LEDs (discrete, single color ones) in the past for a fraction of what I would have paid at Digikey.
