In a nutshell; The motor type is a ' Universal motor '. The configuration is an energized stator and energized rotor with brushes. As it turns out it can run of A.C and D.C. From what i can understand, when run from A.C. the stator coil is 90' out of phase with the rotor by means of the three inductors. Im probably way off there, who cares a badger. In D.C. the inductors essentially dont exist and the outer coil is energized and the brushed rotor turns like a normal D.C. motor.

At 24v D.C. the drill whirls around at most tedious speed. Im guessing an amp guzzling 48v is needed, maybe more to get the drill up to speed.
