On a Roll: New Project: Enigma Z30 Machine Simulator
05/23/2019 at 05:15 • 0 commentsWhile waiting for parts for the full featured Mega Enigma, I have decided to design a new PCB for the numbers only Enigma Z30 using only parts on hand:

New Project: A Traditional Enigma Machine Simulator with LEDs and Switches
05/15/2019 at 23:03 • 0 commentsI have been wanting to make an Enigma Simulator with 16 segment displays, leds and buttons, but the Arduino Nano/Uno do not have sufficient I/O pins to do that. The Mega2560 R3 Pro Mini changes all that. It has enough IO pins to drive all the LEDs, read all the keys and have a full 26 letter plugboard without resorting to crazy multiplexing tricks. Below is an image of the board.

External Lampfield Working. Printer Enclosure in the works.
08/27/2017 at 15:37 • 0 commentsVideo of external lamp field prototype. Letters are printed in a piece of paper and led shines through:

Printer enclosure is in the works, currently designing some pieces to hold the usb host shield in place.

External Lamp Field is now working. Communicates through USB
08/13/2017 at 15:04 • 0 commentsNow that Arduino to Arduino communication through a USB Host board is working, the next step is to have a Charlieplexed external lamp field working.

Arduino to Arduino communication thru USB now working
07/30/2017 at 16:36 • 0 commentsFound the Gravitech USBHOST add-on for Arduino Nano: http://www.gravitech.us/usadforarna.html
Figured out how to make it work and now an Arduino Nano can now talk to an Arduino Uno thru USB
Demo below shows a text being entered in the enigma simulator, it uses Serial.print to send it through USB, the Arduino nano receives it thru SPI using the USB Host shield and flashes the morse code of the encrypted letter.

Now Shipping v1.7
07/12/2017 at 03:40 • 0 commentsUnits are now shipping with version 1.7 of the enigma software. It uses a faster display library and it was compiled with a later version of the Arduino IDE. All of the optimizations make it run faster.

Adapting Xark Library
06/23/2016 at 03:03 • 0 commentsThis project uses the Seeed Studio TFT library to draw all the screen elements. @Xark optimized @adafruit TFT library to draw things faster. Both libraries are not compatible with each other. They have different function names and the actual Tft shields use different pins for data and command.
I am working on modifying @Xark library so it is drop in compatible with Seeed library. Some functions need renaming: drawRect -> drawRectangle. Some functions need their parameters re-arranged.
I got a prototype working. It runs faster. Need to test thoroughly...
