Description

More of a thought experiment than an actual project, but maybe we can get some good engineers in here and kickstart the whole thing for $240 billion!

Details

Construct a ring in space. Spin it to provide artificial gravity. Add soil (maybe from the moon to save shipping costs) and plants. Grow things and ship them to the space station and any colonies we have at the time. Maybe put in a bar so people can chill out in orbit

Lol, I have read some. I used to be a huge Halo fanboy, so I had to go with that name. That being said, there's quite a few sci-fi constructions with the same shape/function

How so? It will require boosting back into a good orbit from time to time if it's close to the earth, but that's a pretty standard procedure. If you're talking about biologically, Idk if I have the expertise to answer that, but I think it could be worked out

Ringworld was unstable with respect to its sun. I imagine this version would share the Earth's sun.

I think the atmosphere would escape from a ringworld faster than the atmosphere escapes from the Earth.
