Google Blasst

An exciting combination of Lasers, Voice activation, Bluetooth and Ocular Assistance Devices™.

Similar projects worth following
This upcoming entry for the Sci-Fi contest involves a combination of the above items (Lasers, Voice activation, Bluetooth and Ocular Assistance Devices™). Stay tuned for more details.

The plan for this project is to build a working replica of Cyclops' visor.

The idea was to modify a set of visor-looking sunglasses to have a laser line, red LEDs, batteries and control circuitry onboard. We then got the idea that if we added voice activation, it would be kinda like Google Glass, only with lasers :P Voice recognition will be done by an Android phone running a simple custom app, which will communicate over Bluetooth Serial with the control circuitry. Of course, the visor will also have a momentary button for manually triggered blasting.

  • 1 × Visor-style sunglasses A pair of sci-fi looking sunglasses picked up at a bargain store for $4.
  • 1 × Laser Line A 3V Laser with a lens that produces a line output. Picked up on eBay from China for around $5.
  • 1 × Arduino Teensy 3.0 Used for control circuitry. Purchased from the PJRC website for $19.
  • 1 × Wire Miscellaneous wire, very small gauge - any good workshop should have plenty of this!
  • 1 × Heatshrink Various small-sized single-wall heatshrink for tidying wiring.

  • 1
    Step 1

Obtain visor style glasses - vital to ensure that project is cool looking.

  • 2
    Step 2

Buy parts... laser module (very important for laser glasses), blue-tooth chip, Arduino, LED strip, push-button, power switch, battery holder, heat shrink...

  • 3
    Step 3

Bread board the circuit for the Arduino.

I have no idea what you are planning, but I'll stick around for the promised lasers.
