We had this old lamp in a futuristic look but without interior.
As i just bought 1000 self fading rgb leds for "something" and because they where cheap and some copper tape for capacitive touch experiments we tried to solder on a LED on the tape. Worked out great so we decided to look out for something that would fit in the lamp and found the acrylic glass cylinder in our storage.
So the idea started.
The 32c3 installation of the warpcore was a kinda temporary installation with flying wires and because we need the power of the warpcore at c-base in a more long term installation i finally did a small board for connecting the MCU (Arduino Pro Mini) to the controll hardware.
And as one of the most professional ways to connect 2 or more things together is zip ties, we used them.

A very simple firmware is used for demo use at 32c3.
The inner tube with all the LEDs was already done last year. And this is a small video done by XenGi.
Today i did the final mechanical installation of the inner tube in the lamp.
The rest is now just "software".
Thats why i added the mostfet's for each row, to reset them after a given time
The basic idea was to let them fade one itteration then powercycle them to sync them again
or let the fade to complete randomnes and get a white light with the diffusor
